The TIE Crawler aka TIE Tank is actually called the Century tank, the slang name has stuck due to the design feature it has in common with a TIE fighter, which enables easy use of this ground vehicle by naval officers. Developed mostly as a way to open markets by SFS as they tried to remain neutral as the Galactic Civil war grew.
